Analyzing the performance of music and podcasts applications in France for the first quarter of 2021, we observe various trends in user engagement and financial metrics. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, offers a glimpse into the dynamics of the French digital audio market. Here, we focus on the top five applications in this category.

Deezer: Music Player, Podcast, a native French app, showed a fluctuating revenue trend, starting at $606K and peaking at $644K in February before settling at $630K by the end of March. Downloads began at 77K and saw a downward trend, finishing at 38K. The weekly active users held steady, starting at 3.9M and experiencing a slight increase to just over 4.1M in March.

Moving on to YouTube Music, we see revenue starting at around $91K and climbing to a high of $124K in early March, then slightly decreasing to $102K. Downloads saw a decrease from 43K to 33K over the quarter, while weekly active users showcased growth from 3.5M to nearly 3.9M.

Rhapsody International S.a.r.l's Napster had a revenue trend that started at $30K, peaked at $34K in late February, and ended at a similar figure in March. Downloads were relatively stable, hovering around 4K to 3.4K, while weekly active users started at 214K and saw a decline to 193K.

SoundCloud: Discover New Music from SoundCloud Global Limited & Co KG showed modest revenue figures, starting at $16K and reaching a peak of $23K in early March. Downloads remained fairly consistent, with a slight dip from 19K to 15K. Weekly active users experienced a rise from 1.4M to 1.6M by the quarter's end.

Lastly, Amazon Music: Songs & Podcasts exhibited the smallest revenue figures among the top apps, with a starting point of $3K and a peak of $11K in late February, ending at $10K. Downloads saw an increase from 54K to 42K, while weekly active users showed some variability but ended the quarter with a slight decrease from 461K to 451K.
